How do I appeal a decision?
Short answer
Use the appeal link in the email or notification about the decision, within 6 months. Appeals are free and always decided by a person.
Send your appeal
- Open the email about the decision, or find it in Notifications.
- Click the appeal link. It opens the appeal page for that decision, where you see the rule and the reason we gave.
- Explain why you think the decision is wrong, in 10 to 3,000 characters. Add anything that shows your review is genuine, such as the date of your visit or order.
- Click Send appeal.
You can appeal each decision once.
What happens next
A moderator looks at your appeal. Appeals are always decided by a person, never only by software. You get the answer by email and in your notifications. If your appeal is accepted, your review becomes visible again.
Time limit
You have 6 months from the decision to appeal. After that, the appeal page tells you the time has passed. Appealing is free.
Other options
Anyone affected by a moderation decision can appeal, for example a reviewer whose review was removed or labeled. You can also turn to a certified out-of-court dispute settlement body, or to the courts.
