Why was my review removed?
Short answer
We remove or label a review only when it breaks one of our rules. You always get the rule and a written reason by email and in your notifications, and you can appeal.
You always get a reason
When a moderator removes your review or adds a label to it, we tell you:
- which rule the review broke,
- a written reason explaining the decision.
You get this by email and in Notifications. Every removal and every label comes with a reason. We never remove a review silently.
Common reasons
Most removals happen because a review:
- is not about a genuine experience with the business,
- contains offensive or hateful language,
- includes personal information, such as a name, phone number or address,
- was written by someone with a conflict of interest, like an employee or a competitor,
- is spam or advertising,
- is not about an experience at all, for example a general opinion or a question.
A business can't remove a review just because it is negative. Reported reviews stay visible until a moderator has checked them. Read the full review guidelines.
If you think we got it wrong
You can appeal for free within 6 months. Use the link in the email or in the notification. A person, not software, decides every appeal. See How do I appeal a decision?
